Sarp Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate conducted an X-Ray search on a vehicle driven by Georgia citizen G.K., who came to Sarp Customs Gate from Georgia to enter Turkey. Vehicle has taken to search hangar and been searched in detail by authorities. In the search, a total of 5.000 turtles found hidden inside of 11 boxes in the footwell in front of the right passenger seat, on the rear seat, in the footwell in front of the rear seat, in the trunk of the vehicle and in the spare wheel space of the vehicle. Authorities were seized the turtles, while procedural act has been taken against the suspect.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russia officially recognizes Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. The statement followed backlash over Russian Vice President Vladimir Medinsky’s remarks referring to the region as “disputed.”
Zakharova clarified that Medinsky was discussing the humanitarian aspect of the conflict and urged against misinterpreting his words. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry criticized Medinsky’s comments and reminded that Russia’s official stance recognizes Karabakh as Azerbaijani territory.
