Turkish Red Crescent Chief Visits Rohingya Camps in Bangladesh

Turkish Red Crescent President Fatma Meriç Yılmaz visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, to inspect ongoing humanitarian operations and warn against the impacts of dwindling global funding. During her tour of the region, she met with local and international partners to sign the digital Green Cash Ready Project and evaluate vocational centers aimed at empowering displaced women. Warning that pressure is mounting on essential services as the crisis approaches its ninth year, Yılmaz stressed that the world must not look away. “While humanitarian needs continue despite the years that have passed, maintaining international support is of paramount importance,” she stated. Yılmaz emphasized that beyond delivering daily food aid, the organization remains deeply focused on helping refugees “rebuild their lives through education, skill development, and livelihood support programs.”
