Masked thieves have stolen 27 rare jewels valued at over 4.5 million euros during a brazen early-morning raid at the Lalique Museum in northeastern France. According to local prosecutors, three suspects used sledgehammers to smash through display cases after forcing open the museum’s emergency exits. Despite the alarm system activating, the security company failed to respond quickly, leaving a morning cleaning staff member to report the crime to authorities. Criticizing the glaring delay, Museum Vice President Christian Dorschner stated, “I’m a little angry. The security company didn’t intervene immediately, they didn’t call the security forces.” Regional President Franck Leroy strongly condemned the highly organized robbery as “an unacceptable attack on heritage,” and the museum will remain closed while specialized cultural trafficking units investigate the massive theft.
