US to Resume Naval Blockade Against Iran

Following instructions from President Donald Trump, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that a renewed naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz will commence today. The operation will strictly target maritime traffic traveling to and from Iranian coastal areas, with CENTCOM emphasizing that US forces will “continue to support the navigation of all vessels in regional waters that do not violate the blockade.” During the initial blockade between April 13 and June 18, the military successfully redirected over 140 compliant ships to alternative routes, neutralized nine violators, and safely permitted the passage of more than 50 commercial vessels carrying humanitarian aid. To ensure regional security, CENTCOM has strongly advised all seafarers operating near the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz to closely monitor maritime notices and maintain contact with the US Navy.
