Coal Mine Explosion Kills Dozens in Pakistan

At least 32 miners have died following a methane gas explosion at a coal field in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The blast triggered a fire and subsequent collapse at the Sorange coal field near Quetta, impacting two adjacent mines. Search and rescue teams worked overnight to recover 32 bodies from the shafts, while operations remain underway for two missing workers. Pakistani official Muhammad Atif noted that 34 miners were inside when the incident occurred, adding, “So far, 32 bodies have been recovered from both mines. Search and rescue efforts continue for the remaining two miners.”
