Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian answered questions from the official Iranian news agency IRNA regarding the Iranian agenda during his two years in office and the events that unfolded after February 28, when the U.S. and Israel launched their joint attacks. Pezeshkian said, “Throughout this period, the enemy’s sole aim was to divide us. If we have managed to make it this far, it is thanks to the noble Iranian people who have kept us standing. This did not include only those in the streets; it also included segments of society who carried bitterness and grievances in their hearts but did not take to the streets or cause trouble for the sake of Iran. They not only refrained from causing trouble but, on the contrary, offered support, showed solidarity, and acted in unity,” he said.
When asked whether his constant emphasis on “the people” in his speeches referred to the people protesting the government, the people who took to the streets following the U.S.-Israel attacks, or a specific segment of the population, Pezeshkian said, “When I say ‘the people,’ I mean everyone living in this country, regardless of their faith, views, gender, or ethnic origin. “The government’s duty is to treat everyone fairly and equally. Unfortunately, we face many challenges in this regard, and we need an opportunity to set this process right,” he said.
