After 30 years of honing her craft in Ankara, 44-year-old Kader Güzel has returned to her hometown in eastern Türkiye to work as a master welder. Encouraged by the local mayor, she secured a position at an industrial factory where she quickly broke through gender stereotypes. Factory owner Ahmet Mercan admitted his initial hesitation, stating, “We honestly had doubts about whether she could do this job, but after she started working, we saw how experienced a welder she is.” Today, Güzel is highly respected by her peers, who regularly rely on the vast expertise she has built since first learning the trade at age 14.
