India celebrates 73rd anniversary of Republic day

India celebrates the 73rd anniversary of the Republic Day with ceremonies amid Omicron outbreak and restrictions. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, only 5,000 people were allowed to attend the ceremony as spectators. It was noted that adults who have had 2 doses of vaccine and those over the age of 15 who have had 1 dose of vaccine will be allowed to enter the ceremony area, where tourists are not allowed to attend due to the pandemic in India.

President Ram Nart Kovind saluted the parade as part of the ceremony that started with the national anthem being read on Rajpath Boulevard in the capital, New Delhi, in the early hours of the morning. As part of the military parade, the demonstration flights of 75 aircraft and helicopters of the Indian Air Force attended the commemoration. The dancers, who were specially prepared for the ceremony with their colorful outfits, performed 480 special shows.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a message on his social media account and said, “Wishing you all a Happy Republic Day.”
