After the events in the east of Ukraine and the deployment of 110,000 Russian soldiers on the borders of the country, trainings were started to be given to the Ukrainian people with wooden weapons against the possible Russian occupation. Ukrainian civilians receive training on first aid, individual defense and protecting their relatives. Civilians between the ages of 18 and 60 can attend the trainings held in the rural areas of the capital city with the support of the Desnianskiy Regional Defense Battalion, the Kiev Defense Headquarters and civilian groups.
In the statement made by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, it was stated that “participation in the Territorial Defense is completely optional, but there is an age restriction. Only adults between the ages of 18 and 60 can participate.”
