The 2022 Traditional Lantern Festival has started in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. Lanterns belonging to 14 different countries were exhibited in the festival. The Lantern Festival was prepared with a tiger theme, since 2022 is the year of the tiger according to the traditional lunar calendar. While Coronavirus (COVID-19) measures are taken at the event, the Lantern Festival will host its visitors between 11-20 February. Meanwhile, the 2.5-ton giant “Cosmic Lantern” in the shape of a UFO named “TPE 40” specially designed by decoration director Akibo, drew attention at the festival. The 5-meter-long lantern has attached to a special crane and lifted 6 meters above the ground, and performed a 3-minute flight show accompanied by smoke and light shows. In addition, the Taipei Tourism Office Director Yi-Ting Liu suggested to the visitors that came to the festival, visit the night market in Taipei’s Shilin district, which is home to one of the city’s richest culinary cultures.
On the other hand, at the Lantern Festival visitors will be able to visit all 3 exhibition areas for free of charge.
