North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made a statement before the meetings of the NATO Defence Ministers in the Belgium’s capital city of Brussels. In his speech, Stoltenberg told that Russia has not taken any steps to reduce the tension on the ground regarding the Ukraine crisis. “We have heard the signs from Moscow about readiness to continue diplomatic efforts. But so far, we have not seen any de-escalation on the ground. On the contrary, it appears that Russia continues the military build-up,” Stoltenberg said.
Stoltenberg noted that they have not received any response to their written documents sent to the Russian on January 26, and said NATO members were ready to meet with Russia and to try to find a political path forward by outlining the issues.
