Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Ersin Tatar strongly responded to Greek Cypriot criticism of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s planned May 3 visit to the TRNC, calling the remarks “nonsense” and asking, “Who are you to criticize my President?” Speaking at an economic meeting with Turkish tradesmen in Kyrenia, Tatar emphasized Türkiye’s historic and ongoing support for Turkish Cypriots. He rejected Greek Cypriot calls for a federal solution and said Türkiye’s presence secures Turkish Cypriot rights in the region.
