While Russia’s attacks in Ukraine are continuing, the “Noosphere” research ship belonging to the National Antarctic Science Center of Ukraine (NASC) has reached Antarctica despite the ongoing war. In the statement made on NASC’s social media account that due to Russian attacks, the research ship departed on the evening of March 25th with a short delay from the Chilean Punta Arenas offshore. NASC announced that the ship has arrived at Galindes Island in Antarctica after a 5-day voyage.
NASC reported that after the difficult journey of the Ukrainian Ship Captain Paul Panasyuk and his assistant British Ship Captain Simon Walles and his crew, the ship has reached and anchored at the research area without any problems. While stating that the researches will continue in this area, NASC noted that the ship will go to Chile and return back when the food and basic needs are low.
