President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell visited the Ukrainian city of Bucha, where the Russian army had withdrawn. “The unthinkable has happened here. We have seen the cruel face of Putin’s army, the recklessness and the cold-heartedness with which they’ve been occupying this city. Here in Bucha we saw our humanity being shattered,” Von der Leyen said during her visit.
“The whole world is mourning with the people of Bucha, and they are the ones who are… defending the border of Europe, defending humanity, defending democracy and therefore we stand with them in this important fight,” Von Der Leyen said while stating that Ukrainians are defending the humanity.
