Turkish Coast Guard stated that the TCSG-28 Boat Command teams found the rubber boat carrying 57 irregular immigrants from Afghanistan while they were on patrol in the Müsellim Strait in Çanakkale, Turkey, in the morning hours. Coast Guard said that TCSG-28 teams were mobilized and they rescued irregular immigrants who were drifting in a rubber boat off the coast of Ayvacık district in Çanakkale. Turkish Coast Guard also noted that the Greek Coast Guard crews had dismantled the immigrant boat’s engine and left them in the Turkish territorial waters. Irregular migrants brought to the Coast Guard Station and then were handed over to the Ayvacık Removal Center after their procedures.
