Pakistani police detained around 400 people in raids on the homes of the country’s deposed former Prime Minister Imran Khan supporters as of last night. During the raids, a police officer was killed after a supporter opened fire on the police. In a statement, the Pakistan Police Department announced that they took action and arrests were made on the information that Imran Khan’s supporters were going to hold a planned protest that forced the government to hold early elections.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah, accused Khan of trying to start a civil war in the country, and said that a Khan supporter shot and killed a police officer in the city of Lahore.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan called his supporters to gather in the capital, Islamabad on Wednesday, and announced that they would continue their protests until the government accepts early elections.
