The Brazilian Minister of Regional Development announced that 44 people were killed, 25 were injured, and 56 were missing in floods and landslides caused by the heavy rains in Pernambuco state in eastern Brazil since Wednesday, May 25. Minister Ferreira stated that 3,957 people in the region were left homeless, and 533 people were evacuated.
According to reports, while the search and rescue efforts for missing citizens in the region have accelerated due to the cessation of rains, the armed forces are also assisting civil defense teams.
