In London, subway workers went on strike demanding increased salaries and improvements in subways. Led by the Railway, Maritime and Transport (RMT) Union, the 24-hour strike began after the end of the 4-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary on the throne.
