Almost drowning 17 African migrants rescued in Mediterranean Sea

Humanitarian organization operating as a non-governmental organization in Spain named Mayday Terraneo reported that 17 African migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean Sea on 15 June. It’s stated that some of the 17 African immigrants, who were swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, were rescued with the operation carried out by the rescue ship “Aita Mari” belonging to another non-governmental organization Salvamento Maritimo Humanitario, were about to drown. It’s also reported that the migrants were intercepted by the Libyan Coast Guard while they were traveling in the Mediterranean Sea in a boat with 103 people on board and they were trying to be returned to Libya. Mayday Terraneo stated that 17 migrants rescued from the sea tried to escape by jumping into the sea because they didn’t want to be taken to Libya. Mayday Terraneo also announced that 2 people who swallowed sea water among the rescued migrants received treatment in the infirmary on the Aita Mari ship, and that they don’t have any life-threatening injuries.
