The death toll from weeks of torrential rain in the Indian state of Assam has risen to 62, officials reported. 32 districts in the state were flooded and more than 3 million people left their homes, Assam State Disaster Management stated.
More than 20,000 people had been evacuated, Assam State Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced, adding, “We are now focusing on rescue operations,” during his visit to disaster areas.
