Japanese authorities stated that 5 people had died in a week due to an extreme heat wave. During the heat wave, 7,218 people were hospitalized due to symptoms related to heat stroke, with half of them being over the age of 65. Over 2000 people who applied to the health facility were between the ages of 18 and 65, authorities said. The air temperature in Saitama province, near Tokyo, reached 38 degrees Celsius.
The extreme heat wave will last until next week, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
