A fire broke out in a 5-star hotel in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq. An official said in a statement that the fire occurred as a result of the explosion of the gas cylinder on the 25th floor of the hotel. The fire destroyed 28 hotel rooms, and the majority of those who stayed there were local visitors from the country’s central and southern cities, the statement read.
The fire was brought under control after 2 hours of effort and no casualties were recorded in the incident.
