Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has collected over 7,500 Chinese works since 1933. The museum, located in Kansas City, US also studies and exhibits the Chinese items.
The piece attracting the most attention is Guanyin of the South China Sea, that has 2.4 meters length, 1.68 meters width and 1.1 meters in depth, and is made of a single poplar tree.
The museum held a “Lively Creatures – Animals in Chinese Art” themed exhibition that displayed ancient paintings of animals, that represents celebration, personal messages and political and religious agendas, in various art forms.
