The sixth edition of the Red Carpet Human Rights Film Festival took place at the Holst Cultural Center between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with the cooperation of Arabs and Palestinians. This year’s slogan of the festival has been “Shofuna”, which means “we still exist” in response to the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the covering up of the crimes committed against human rights.
The festival started with the Gaza Mayor, Yahya El-Sarraj’s opening speech, through which he demanded the cease of the Israeli siege and called on the world to end the suffering of the Palestinians. He also stated that Gaza can offer a lot to the world and that Palestinian people deserve better.
300 films from 60 countries participated in the festival. In addition to the films about the ongoing conflicts between Israel and Palestine, 43 films that touched on human rights were displayed.
The first festival was held among the houses in Shujaiyya that were destroyed in the Israeli attack in 2015.
