The ongoing heavy monsoon rains have caused flooding in most of Phuket, Thailand’s famous holiday island. More than 6,000 people were evacuated from a total of 1,850 homes. Search and rescue efforts on the island continue. Education was suspended in many schools due to the flood disaster. Many highways were covered with mud due to landslides, while many trees and power poles were knocked down on the roads.
Some flights are being cancelled or delayed due to the storm at Phuket Airport.
