Israel holds general elections

People in Israel went to the polls for early general elections. The general elections, which will be held for the fifth time in the last four years following the dissolution of parliament, are expected to draw 6,788,000 voters. As of October 20, 3,636 Israeli voters out of 4,560 cast ballots in 101 Israeli diplomatic missions around the world. While the Israeli Central Election Committee announced a 74 percent participation rate abroad, the Israeli press reported that 18 thousand police officers will be on duty in the country’s early general elections.

Official results must be announced within a maximum of eight days.
