Supporters of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan continue the demonstrations in Islamabad that began after the assassination attempt against him. The protesters burned tires and blocked roads leading to Islamabad International Airport and highways connecting Islamabad to the cities of Lahore and Peshawar. Due to the protests, traffic was disrupted, and education was halted for one day.
Saying that people are having difficulty in commuting due to the protests, the police, named Yawar Ali stated, “The families were stuck in traffic for hours. We were informed that the protesters did not even allow the ambulances to pass,”.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah, instructed local authorities to open highways.
