In the eastern Chinese city of Anyang, a fire broke out in the factory of a company that sells chemicals and other industrial products. More than 200 search and rescue personnel and 63 fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. At least 36 people died, and 2 injured people were taken to hospital, authorities said.

The flames were brought under control after 4 hours of intense efforts. A detailed investigation was launched to determine the cause of the fire.
