A bomb attack was carried out on a police vehicle in the Quetta city of Pakistan. Quetta police stated that 1 policeman and 1 child lost their lives, and 24 people, 20 of whom were police officers, were injured.
Police said the targeted vehicle was carrying officers assigned to protect workers in the vaccination campaign for polio patients.
Noting that around 20-25 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack, police stated that the incident was identified as a “suicide attack” as the body of the suicide bomber were found near the scene.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif condemned the attack and said that the incident would be investigated immediately.
Two days ago, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced that the ceasefire with the government in June had ended and ordered a nationwide “attack”.
