One died and more than 10 were reported missing after a huge explosion broke out in a building in St Helier, the capital of Jersey Island, one of the Channel Islands in the south of England at 04:00 local time.

The fire that broke out after the explosion was extinguished but the building collapsed.

At least 1 person was confirmed dead and 20-30 people who were evacuated from the area were taken to St Helier Town Hall, says Jersey policeman Robin Smith. The search efforts are continuing.

The cause of the explosion is not known yet.
