Thousands of Turkish people flocked to the Sarp Border Check-Point next to Georgia to register their phones brought from abroad before the incoming increase in registration fee takes effect by the next year. Tour companies have started organizing daily tours to the neighboring country, where Turks can enter with ID cards, so that they can fulfill the registration requirement of visiting an abroad country in the last year and avoid the next year’s hike.
Buyers who have reduced their payments say that they also had the opportunity to tour around Georgia’s capital, Batumi.
The ₺2,732 registration fee will increase to ₺6,091 with a %122.39 raise.
