A herd of 14 wild Asian elephants in southwestern China’s Yunnan province are returning to their nature reserve after 17 months of wandering. Monitored by a center, the herd crossed the Yunjiang River with human assistance. More than 150,000 residents were evacuated in order to avoid a possible conflict among the people. In addition, more than 25,000 police officers and crew have been dispatched to the region along with vehicles and drones to track and guide the migrating elephants. The elephants were given about 180 tons of food during their migration, and they are in good health.
