The annual Lantern Festival of Taiwanese, one of the most colorful festivals in the Far East, is being held in the capital, Taipei, for the first time in 23 years. On the first day of the festival, hundreds of handmade lanterns in various designs and colors welcomed the visitors who came regardless of the rainy weather. The theme of the rabbit was brought to the fore as this year is the year of the rabbit according to the Chinese calendar.
Being organized by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, the festival is established around 5 different subway stations in the Xinyi city of Taipei and can be visited between February 5 and 19, free of charge.
