The death toll rose to 1297 in the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck 12 kilometers northeast of Haiti’s Saint-Louis du Sud region on Saturday. Many people are still missing, while 5,700 are injured. Thousands of homes, schools and places of worship were destroyed as a result of the earthquake. The hospitals are overflowed with the injured, and there is a shortage of medical supplies.
