Giant wheat and corn silos in Gaziantep’s Nurdağ district were destroyed by 2 massive earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye. While 15 of 22 tons-worth of silos were crushed like paper, the wheat and corn inside were scattered around.
The company’s evacuation operation manager, Ahmet Arıkan, stated, “Approximately 14-15 thousand tons of products were scattered around. We are trying to save grain that have been spilled on the ground for abour 15 days so that they are not wasted and try to bring them back into the economy. We are making an effort to transport the products used in the animal feed industry to another place to prevent them from being exposed to precipitation.”
