Disaster Management Affairs Department Commissioner Charles Kalemba reported that the death toll from the devastating tropical cyclone Freddy in Malawi rose to 326 and stated that the number was likely to rise even higher.

Lazarus Chakwera, the president of Malawi, stated his government will keep requesting assistance from national and international groups to provide the necessary humanitarian help. He has announced a national day of mourning for 14 days.
