The Israeli public took to the streets after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who argued that the judicial reform, which includes limiting the powers of the Supreme Court, overriding court decisions by parliament, and reducing the influence of the judiciary on the election of judges, should be suspended. Many demonstrators, carrying Israeli flags, blocked the Ayalon Highway in the capital Tel Aviv and started a fire.
