The Spanish Military Emergencies Unit (UME) reported that over 60 separate forest fires erupted simultaneously in the northern autonomous region of Asturias, with small-scale fires raging across the region, and at least 500 people were mobilized to combat the blazes. Some residential areas in high-risk zones, including Lavadoria, Toranu, and La Matosa, were evacuated. The local authorities reported that strong winds and temperatures of up to 29 degrees Celsius made it challenging to control the flames. Meanwhile, a fire that began on March 23 in Villanueva de Viver, in Valencia’s east, has destroyed over 4,900 hectares of land and still not brought under control.
