The infrared cameras set up in the nature reserve in southwest China captured footage of various endangered species, such as forest musk deer, golden pheasant, and the Chinese goral, which are under state protection. Officials stated that the number of forest musk deer, listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, has increased to over 40 in Xuebaoshan.
