hurricane ida causes flooding in new york and new jersey

Hurricane Ida caused heavy rainfall in New York and New Jersey. Subway stations, Newark Airport and streets were flooded. A state of emergency was declared in both states. Seven people died in New York City and one died in New Jersey, and at least 9 houses were destroyed in Mullica Hill. All flights at Newark Liberty Airport were suspended. The police reported that the roof of the post office building collapsed in Kearny, New Jersey, and that there were people inside. No statement was made regarding the incident.
