In Suzhou, a city in China’s Anhui province, a female Chinese acrobat tragically died during a performance on Saturday. While ascending meters into the air with the aid of a rope, her male partner, Zhang, was unable to catch her with his legs, causing her to fall to the ground from a fatal height. Footage captured by the audience revealed the incident. Sun was taken to the hospital following the accident, but despite all attempts to save her, she passed away.

Reports suggest that Zhang and Sun were married and had two children. The acrobats did not use safety harnesses during the show in order to make more money.
