Pumpkin harvest continues in Kozan district of Adana city, Turkey. While pumpkins being sold for 3 Turkish Liras for a kilo, a pumpkin farmer named Battal Yavuz in Kozan district couldn’t spare to sell his giant pumpkins weighing around 23 kilograms. Yavuz said that there were some people offered him even 1.000 Turkish Liras for his 2 giant pumpkins, which one of them weighing 22,750 kilograms and other is 23,400 kilograms, but he didn’t sell them.
While stating that they harvesting 100 metric tons of pumpkin in 30 decare wide area, “Now there are 1 metric tons of them left. I sold 70 kilogram pumpkin for between 2.000 or 3.000 Turkish Liras. They offered 1.000 Turkish Liras to 2 giant pumpkins, which one of them weighing 22,750 kilograms and other is 23,400 kilograms, but I didn’t sold them. There is strong demand due to iron deficiency in children. Generally, people from foreign cultures are demanding. Our Turkish people want them to eat. Professors, nurses and doctors are wanting them and coming here. They are calling me. They want pumpkin across the country with shipment. I sold them on a price of 2 Turkish Liras for a kilo in the garden but now I’m selling them for 3 Turkish Liras for a kilo. We have 8 different variety of pumpkins,” Yavuz said.
