A woman disappeared in a frozen river on the Epiphany Holiday in Russia

On January 19, a 40-year-old woman wanted to enter the frozen Oredezh River in the Leningrad Region of Russia, river with her husband and children with the occasion of Orthodox Christians’ Epiphany Holiday. In the mobile phone camera footage of those moments, it seen that everything went well until the woman hit the ice on the river surface while jumping into the cold water. Meanwhile, a person standing next to the woman, who disappeared afterward, started shouting after figuring out something was wrong. Right at those moments, the woman’s husband jumped into the cold water to save his wife. But soon, he came out after couldn’t see his wife under the water. Later on, the woman’s children screams for their mother also heard in the footage.

After the incident, search operations were launched under the Oredezh River. Despite all the efforts, the body of the disappeared woman couldn’t be found. The district Prosecutor’s Office announced that an investigation launched regarding the incident.
