The courtyard of the mosque, which is also known as the ‘green mosque’ among the people because of its ivy, has turned into a botanical garden with 280 plant species such as lavender, pomegranate, daffodil, laurel and bridal veil, as well as begonia and rose species. In the city, where the air temperature is starting to rise, the congregation spends time in the mosque outside of prayer hours. The mosque continues to add to its reputation by being featured in many TV series and movies.
In a statement to the İHA reporter, mosque imam Fahri Onur said that the mosque was full in Ramadan and said, “Since tarawih prayers were held in our mosque this year, there is a great interest in our mosque from the surrounding neighborhoods. Quite a lot of visitors visit our mosque. With the corona virus gradually decreasing its effect, the congregation in our mosque is gradually increasing. There are 280 types of plants in our mosque, and guests from abroad and abroad visit our mosque.”
Saying that he came to the green mosque to pray from Pozantı district, which is 100 kilometers from the center, Tayyar Yılmaz said, “I come here 2-3 times a year and pray. It has a very nice environment. We can find a thousand and one shades of green here. It has a unique natural wonder. It gives a good taste,” he said.
