Residents of Aleppo gathered around the historic Citadel of Aleppo to celebrate after opposition groups, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), recaptured much of the city from the Assad regime.

Crowds chanted slogans and removed Assad’s posters and flags from prominent structures, marking their defiance. The damaged statue of former Syrian President Hafez Assad symbolized the city’s transformation.

An HTS member confirmed the capture of Aleppo, expressing happiness over the victory as opposition forces continued their advance in the region.
