Amasra Emerges as Top Destination for Russian Tourists

Amasra, a district in Bartın once described by the Ottoman Sultan Fatih Mehmed as “Çeşm-i Cihan” (the apple of the world’s eye), has become a favored spot for Russian tourists. Since being introduced to the cruise line in August 2022, Amasra has welcomed 49,483 Russian tourists through 43 cruise voyages over 23 months.

The Astoria Grande, a ship that began its voyages to Amasra in August 2022, has brought 49,319 visitors to the district. Russian tourists are drawn to Amasra’s stunning nature, rich history, and tranquil atmosphere, often returning or planning future visits. The 11-story ship, 193 meters long and 30 meters wide, has significantly boosted tourist numbers.

Amasra aims to surpass previous tourist records in 2024. Plans include 26 voyages by the Astoria Grande, expected to bring 40,000 tourists throughout the year. Efforts are underway to increase the number of ships, potentially doubling the tourist influx to 60,000. Amasra’s popularity continues to rise, making it a top destination in tour packages offered by tourism companies.
