A bronze dagger, adorned with silver rivets and estimated to be 3,600 years old, has been discovered off the coast of Antalya’s Kumluca district in Türkiye. The artifact, linked to the Cretan-Minoan Civilization, was unearthed during underwater excavations led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Öniz from Akdeniz University, under the supervision of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The shipwreck, located 50 meters deep, had previously yielded copper ingots believed to be from Cyprus’s Troodos Mountains. This discovery sheds new light on ancient Mediterranean trade routes and cultural connections, suggesting the ship was en route to Crete when it sank.
