Antalya’s Ramadan Holidays Bookings Set to Reach 95% Occupancy

Hakan Saatçioğlu, President of the Professional Hotel Managers Association (POYD), predicts a high occupancy rate of 95 percent in Antalya during the upcoming Ramadan Holidays, scheduled for April 6-15 this year. The tourism sector is experiencing a boost as the domestic reservation rate, currently at over 70 percent, is expected to peak during the holiday period.

Local holidaymakers are opting for shorter 4 or 5-day vacations due to pricing factors rather than longer 7-8-9 day stays. Saatçioğlu noted the success of the tourism sector in 2023, with Antalya hosting around 15.7 million guests, and expressed hopes to exceed 17 million visitors in 2024. The first four months of the year have seen positive growth, with 900 thousand tourists entering, marking a 24 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The outlook remains optimistic pending any unforeseen challenges.

Hittite Monument in Türkiye Highlights Ancient Water Worship

0

The Eflatunpınar Hittite Water Monument in Konya’s Beyşehir district, built around 3,275 years ago, continues to draw attention for its religious and political significance. Constructed near a vital water source during a major drought in the 13th century BC, the monument reflects the Hittites’ reverence for clean water and features reliefs symbolizing mountain and storm gods, the sun goddess, and sacred figures.

Recognized as a rare example of Hittite engineering and propaganda, the site was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List in 2014 under the title “Hittite Sacred Water Temple.”
