An armed male took several people hostage in a bar in the city of Ede in the east of the Netherlands. The police surrounded the area upon notice, evacuated 150 houses and stopped train services in the area.
Three people were released after a while. The total number of hostages remains unknown.
Dutch police announced that there was no sign that the incident was linked to terrorism.
