With the Istanbul Unnatural Reef Project, a total of 699 artificial reefs were placed in the Marmara Sea in 4 years to conserve sea life, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The project has contributed to the development of the Marmara Sea by increasing biodiversity on the artificial reefs. By allowing sea species to survive and breed, the project will significantly improve biodiversity and sustainable fishing. The project will also compensate for the harm to ecosystems to prevent illegal fishing.
